Help to deploy medical staff to new Igbodo hospital, community pleads with DTSG


The Igbodo community in Ika North East local government area, Delta State has strongly appealed to the state government to post Medical Personnel to the newly completed Hospital in the community.

The Iyase of the kingdom, Dr Ifeanyi Unomah and the President-General of Igbodo Development Union (IDU) Worldwide, Deacon Mathew Okwaje made the appeal at the weekend during the inspection of the state-of-the-art facilities recently installed at the hospital for the smooth take-off of activities at the Health Centre.

A statement by the Director of Publicity, I.D.U Worldwide, Comrade Nkem Nwaeke says the Iyase who on behalf of the Obi of Igbodo, Barr Ikechukwu Osedume 1, led other members of Obi-in-Council to inspect the medical facilities, stressed the need for immediate commencement of operations in the hospital.

Dr Unomah explained that the hospital project which started 23years ago will further enhance the people’s desire for healthy living at all times, saying that indigenes will no longer travel distance away from the community for medical attention.

The Iyase commended the President-General of I.D.U Worldwide, Deacon Mathew Okwaje for the brilliant initiative to mobilizing resources for the completion and equipping of the Health Center, saying that the community will forever remain grateful to its sons and daughters who had contributed to the development of the kingdom.

The President-General, IDU Worldwide, Deacon Mathew Okwaje said Igbodo community was very appreciative to all its development partners, including the Delta State Government, the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, the SEEFOR-World Bank Project and the European Union, for helping to raise the standard of infrastructure in the once-neglected community.

Deacon Okwaje explained that the medical equipment were recently acquired by the leadership of Igbodo Development Union with strong support from the North-America branch Union.

He disclosed that skeletal medical services have commenced at the hospital as the community had engaged some staff including medical personnel while awaits statutory staff to be deployed by the state government.

The President-General who conducted the palace chiefs round the various departments of the hospital stated that the development was to forestall dilapidation of both the structures and the equipment as a result of disuse.

Deacon Okwaje expressed optimism that the relevant government agencies will act as quickly as possible in line with the development policies of Dr Ifeanyi Okowa’s led administration in the state, stressing that Igbodo community will continue to partner with government at all levels to attract more development to the locality.

The President and immediate past President of North America branch of IDU, Dr Charles Ego and Dr Azuka Dibie said they were encouraged by the need for adequate medical care for their people back home in Nigeria.

Dr Ego and Dr Dibie appealed for the immediate take-off of the hospital as the acquired equipment would be negatively affected if not put to required usages.
