PRESS RELEASE

CHIEF ENGR. ENUHA CALLS FOR URGENT STEPS TO SOLIDIFY PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN COUNCIL IN DELTA STATE

With the Presidential election, being the door opener into the 2019 general elections just weeks away, the non visible coordination towards a vibrant and coordinated Presidential campaign in Delta state has become worrisome.

Chief Enuha who is a member of the campaign council expressed his dissatisfaction over the slow pace of activities as it concerns the Presidential campaign and those of other offices.

According to him, it is the lack of synergy and cohesion in the council that has created the uncertainty in the actual date that President Buhari will visit the state while also the issue of the venue is still uncertain.

He pointed out that despite the assurances given to the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo on the readiness of the party to deliver massive votes for their election, it is almost an uphill task if a well coordinated council is not constituted and allowed to function optimally.

“The Presidential election is the first election and it will serve as a determinant of how other elections will go. Outside this fact, the Presidency has placed a high premium on Delta state and we must not fail to deliver this state so as not to suffer the neglect we got owing to the outcome of the 2015 elections,” Enuha said.

He further warned against any form of unilateral decision by any individual as it concerns all programmes and activities in the run up to the election, adding that the Honourable Minister of state for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu was appointed the Chairman of the Presidential campaign with Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan as co-chairman while Hon. Temi Harriman is to serve as the Director General and several other leaders as members.

Consequently, Chief Enuha has called for a strategic meeting of the council for immediate commencement of full blown campaign to all the nooks and crannies of the state immediately after the Presidential rally slated for Thursday.

On the uncertainty concerning the venue for the Presidential rally, he wondered why such issue should arise as all Presidential rallies are hosted nationwide at the state capitals. He maintained that no excuse is cogent enough to move it to any other city outside the state capital most especially in the face of the peculiar political situation in Delta state APC as it concerns the zone.

“We must not again create a picture before the Anioma people that APC do not want or care about them by again moving the Presidential rally to Warri as it will be seen as another slap on the faces of Anioma people.

A stitch in time saves nine.
