Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State.
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has approved the release of about N200 million for the purchase of modern equipment to improve the operations of the two state owned electronic media organs, the Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS) Asaba and DBS Warri.
This was made known today, Thursday, May 23, 2019 by the Commissioner for Information, Chief Patrick Ukahduring the delegate conference of the state chapter of the National Union of Printing, Publishing and Paper Product Workers (NUPPPPROW) in Asaba.
The Commissioner who was represented by the functioning Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Paul Osahor also called on the staff of the Ministry of Information and the State owned Media Houses to redouble their effort in the dissemination of Information of Government Programmes and activities, by reciprocating Government’s gesture in the release of funds for the purchase and reactivation of Equipment for the Media Houses.
Ukah announced that the State Government has reactivated the Government Printing Press, preparatory for the full commercialisation of the Press, stressing that the Government Printing Press has now been put in a position to print all Government documents and The Pointer Newspaper titles.
He also revealed that Government will embark on the training of staff especially the engineering and Newsroom staff to improve their skills in the handling of operational equipment.
Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Labour and Servicom, comrade Jonathen Ojobu, reiterated the state Government preparedness to continue to work with Labour Union in the State for the all growth and development of the State.
He called on Labour leaders to always implore dialogue and negotiation in handling workers issues with Government.
In his own remark, the secretary of the State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC comrade Innocent Ofuanyeadi appreciated Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for Prompt released of funds for payments of workers’ salaries and Pensioners in the State.
