The much anticipated Okowa Victory Concert has held amidst ecstasy, fanfare, appreciation and greater expectation for the next four years of the Senator Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration as the Governor of Delta State.
The concert which was preceded by a Celebrity Novelty Match that held on April 29, 2019 was witnessed by Deltans who trooped from within and beyond the state, spanning various walks of life to show their solidarity and share in the celebration of the beginning of another four- year-term.
The event which was slated to begin at 6pm saw the Dome Events Centre, Okpanam Road, Asaba already filled to capacity more than an hour before time. Put together by Delta Entertainers under the organization of Show Promoter and MC, Edirin Obada aka MC 2things, the programme proved to be a unifying event which Deltans wouldn’t forget in a hurry, as politicians, entertainers and the lovers of the good works of Okowa gathered to celebrate what many term as a “reality worth celebrating”.
The Governor Dr Ifeanyi Okowa proved quite an early bird after making his entry to the venue at just a few minutes past 7pm alongside his entourage, this was despite the stretched out Workers’ Day Celebration which he fully took part in. Kicking off a few minutes before 8pm with MC Caesar taking the audience through the introductory formalities, the microphone was then handed over to the brains behind the event, sponsors and supporters.
In his speech, show promoter and event organiser MC 2things (Edirin Obada), gave a noteworthy summary filled with insights as it relates to the history of the Concert which dates back three years. He commended the support and investment of Governor Okowa into the Entertainment industry of the state, wherein he also showed sincere appreciation to Artistes, Actors, Showbiz promoters across the industry and beyond, with particular reference to Hon (Chief) Rita Daniels for her solid support.
In her brief speech Rita Daniels; Supervisory Councillor Aniocha South LGA and one-time President Nigerian Guild of Entertainers, was full of praise for the personality of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, whom she sees as a material for the nation’s most exalted office. She presented and thanked her team which includes the likes of NollyWood popular face Mr Dave Ogbeni, Baba Dee amongst others, for their hard work.
Thereafter, the stage was set literally on fire with A-list comedian Gordons Berlusconi mastering the event and introducing electrifying performances by Delta born heavyweights in the Nigerian Entertainment industry such as Former BBN Winner Efe Edjeba, Shaun Bebe, Warri born Rapper Erigga, Orezi, Harrysong and Music Legend Oritz Wiliki. Comedy wasn’t also left out as I Go Dye and I go Save brought more fun to the night with rib cracking jokes.
Appearances by foremost Entertainment Industry stakeholders and Nollywood personalities like Opa Williams (Nite Of A Thousand Laugh), Patience Ozokwor (Mama G), Zubby Micheals, teen actress Regina Daniels, Teddy Fretless Olojoba, Chief Ejiro Okurame, Alex Osifo amongst others also added spice to the event.
In his speech, Governor Okowa whose happiness at the organization of the event was evident from his lively mien, expressed the government’s decision to invest more in entertainment via the establishment of the Warri Development Agency.
He said this was necessary because the City of Warri serves as the cradle of the Nigerian entertainment , and therefore, the high level of infrastructural and road network development of Asaba which is very evident, needs to be replicated in Warri City, as this would speed up the reawakening of the city.
Alongside his entourage, Okowa later joined Samankwe Crooner Mr Harrysong on the dance floor as songs of celebration rented the air.
Top government functionaries also added the touch of class with the attendance of Prince Sam Obi, former Acting Governor of the State, Rt. Hon Friday Osanebi; Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon Festus Agas; SSG, State PDP Chairman Olorogun Kingsley Esiso, Hon Funkekeme Solomon, a former commissioner for Works, members of the House of Assembly, Commissioners, Board chairmen, aides and other appointees.
With the highly successful turnout of Very Important personalities at the Okowa Victory Concert, all now seems set for the commencement of the rites of passage leading up to May 29 2019.
