Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has directed the State Waste Management Board to take possession of the Waste Disposal Bins in the twenty five local government council secretariats and the Ministry of Environment. They are to be distributed free to residents.
A statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr Chiedu Ebie, said that the directive was necessitated by the zeal of government to enhance the mechanism of waste management in the state.
The statement titled “Return of Waste Bins to the State Waste Management Board, called on the board to immediately commence the distribution of the said bins free of charge to residents of the state.
While the statement called on all local government council chairmen to facilitate the immediate release of the waste bins in their possession to officials of the board, a release from the Public Relations Officer of the board, Judith Kuejubola said modalities for the distribution of the bins would soon be communicate to the public.
